It was inspiring to connect with many Signatories and ecosystem partners at the 2025 GIIN Impact Forum in Berlin through three distinct convenings.

The Impact Principles Signatory Luncheon brought together nearly 150 stakeholders on the theme of Impact Leadership across Global Markets. Through open dialogue and a lively panel, the luncheon highlighted distinct market dynamics across regions and leadership from impact-centered LPs and GPs and the broader Impact Principles community in strengthening impact accountability and best practices around the world.

In the opening and closing remarks, Danielle Brassel of Zurich Insurance, Convenor of the Impact Principles Advisory Board, and Amit Bouri, CEO of the Global Impact Investing Network emphasized the importance of the global Signatory community and engagement of asset owners in stewarding impact integrity and rigor as the field evolves. Joohee Rand, Head of Secretariat for the Impact Principles, shared updates on strategic priorities and announced the new Impact Principles Supporter Pilot Initiative. This initiative is designed for asset owners, allocators and investment advisors who use and support the Impact Principles to enhance impact practices across their portfolios and in ecosystem development.

Special thanks to panelists representing the Signatory community around the world, sharing their insights on opportunities, challenges and exciting developments unique to respective markets – Alice Kehoe of KKR (North America), Marc Moser of Lightrock (Europe), Masahiro Hata of GLIN Impact Capital (Asia – Japan), Sugandhi Matta of ABC Impact (Asia – Singapore), Maryline Penedo of IDB Invest (LATAM and Caribbean), Mokgadi Maunatlala of Adenia Partners (Africa).

Our second annual DFI Impact Roundtable convened senior representatives from DFI/MDB Signatory organizations to discuss how they can leverage the Impact Principles as a tool for advancing IMM practices among their investees, particularly in emerging markets. Hosted by Rob Davies of British International Investment, the roundtable featured specific practice examples shared by Renzo Castro of Swedfund and Maryline Penedo of IDB Invest. We look forward to continuing to support our DFI/MDB partners in their leadership in building robust impact markets grounded in rigor and integrity.

Finally, in a dynamic workshop session exploring the Next Frontiers in Impact Measurement and Management, Joohee Rand, Head of Secretariat for the Impact Principles, moderated a panel of industry-leading Signatory representatives, including Shami Nissan of Actis, Kristin Sadler of Quona Capital, Catherine Macaulay, CFA of Schroders, and Antonia Sariyska of UBS Global Wealth Management. Touching on some of the most pressing topics on IMM – including measuring outcomes, stakeholder engagement, impact at exit, impact and financial performance relationships, harmonization of frameworks, LP/GP IMM expectations, AI and systems change – the panelists and the participants together reflected on the current state of IMM and their visions for future innovation, as well as action steps for individual investors and the broader field. We look forward to sharing more insights from the session soon.

These convenings were all powerful reminders of how this community is meeting the moment together with unwavering impact leadership to ensure focus on delivering real outcomes for people and planet.
