About
Driving transparency, discipline and credibility for impact management practice

The Operating Principles for Impact Management (“Impact Principles” or “OPIM”) are a global standard for integrating impact throughout the investment lifecycle. The Impact Principles bring clarity to the impact investing market on what it means to be an impact investor in practice, thereby improving investor confidence and integrity while also addressing concerns related to impact-washing and elevating best practices.
Mission
The Impact Principles provide a common framework shaping industry best practices and promote transparency, discipline and credibility for impact management practice in capital markets.
Vision
Through broad market adoption and the shared commitment of Signatories, the Impact Principles will enable capital mobilization and deployment at scale with investor confidence and integrity, ultimately driving collective outcomes to help solve global challenges.
History of the Impact Principles
The Impact Principles were founded in April 2019 by IFC with extensive consultation with industry leaders and 60 founding Signatories. The GIIN became the Host in November 2022.
